2021-22 Kindergarten RegistrationKindergarten Registration Packet Kindergarten registration materials for the 2021-2022 school year are now available. Children must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2021, to enroll (or by December 1, 2021, under special circumstances).

Please pick up, or request delivery of, your registration materials prior to the registration dates. To do this, you can:

  • Visit the main office at Congress Elementary School, Wall Elementary School, or Wenzel Elementary School to pick up a Kindergarten Registration Packet.


Registration location and dates: 

  • Kindergarten Registration is for children entering kindergarten at Congress Elementary School, Wall Elementary School, and Wenzel Elementary School for the 2021-2022 School Year. The Registration Event (for all three schools) will be held at Wall Elementary School (702 E. Lafayette St., Sturgis, MI 49091) on:
    • May 1, 2021 from 8am-12pm
    • May 3, 2021 from 4pm-7pm
    • May 4, 2021 from 4pm-7pm


When you register your child on May 1st, 3rd, or 4th; please bring: 

  • Birth Certificate (original County or State Certified) - Not the hospital copy
  • Immunization record
  • Vision and Hearing record (if available)
  • Proof of Residency (driver’s license, utility bill, phone bill, etc.)
  • Completed registration packet (items listed below)


All papers in the packet completed:

  • Family Data Sheet
  • Student Language Survey
  • Acceptable Use Agreement
  • Residency Questionnaire
  • Concussion Form
  • MICR Consent Disclosure Form  


Children who turn 5 after September 1, 2021, are encouraged to wait a year before enrolling in school. While you may still register now, we will have a screener on sight in August for students that turn 5 between September 1st and December 1st of 2021. We will communicate the dates and times that the screener will be conducted after we received further social distancing guidance from the State of Michigan.

A technician from the Health Department will be on site in August for free vision and hearing screening on. Vision and hearing screening is necessary for kindergarten entry. We will communicate the dates and times that the screener will be conducted after we received further social distancing guidance from the State of Michigan.

If your child’s immunizations are incomplete, please make an appointment with the St. Joseph Community Health Agency or your physician. Please bring with you, when you register, a copy of the updated record or the date, time and location of the appointment you have scheduled to complete the immunizations.

In August, you will receive a placement letter providing you information as to your child’s teacher and school. If you have questions or concerns that have not been addressed, please contact the school office to speak with a secretary or the principal.
