We are pleased to announce that Nick Herblet has been selected to serve as Principal of Sturgis High School (SHS). Mr. Herblet has 10 years of experience in educational administration as Lakeview Community Schools Assistant Principal/Athletic Director, Ithaca Public Schools Assistant Principal/Athletic Director, Sturgis High School Assistant Principal, and Congress & Wenzel Elementary Principal. Prior to his career in educational administration, he spent 9 years as a teacher at Grant High School. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics Education from Central Michigan University and Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University.
He was officially approved by the Board of Education during their meeting on Monday, May 20, 2019. Superintendent Art Ebert shared with the Board that 27 individuals applied for the position, and that the selection process included an application screen, phone interview, first round interview, a job related performance task, reference checks, and a second round interview.
Mr. Herblet is a dedicated leader who is committed to educating today’s youth. Additionally, he is an engaged member of the Sturgis Community as an instructional leader, volunteer, and parent. He will officially begin his duties as SHS Principal on Monday, July 1, 2019, which will result in the need to fill his current position at Congress and Wenzel Elementary Schools.
