Previously, we had several different key systems throughout the district. Additionally, we had unaccounted for interior and exterior keys due to lost and un-returned keys over the decades. To ensure that we never find ourselves in this position again, we replaced every interior and exterior lock district wide with a new universal key system in 2024. Furthermore, we installed additional key-less card readers at exterior doors so that we could restrict the number of people that have exterior keys to our buildings. Lastly, we have a new key custody process to ensure that we know where every interior and exterior key is. If a key is lost or not returned, we will replace all of the locks impacted by that key.
