The award is in honor of the late John E. Oster, a Sturgis attorney, who placed high value on both education and community service. This will be the thirty-fourth award given annually since the 1981-1982 school year.
Sturgis school district residents interested in nominating a teacher for consideration by the award committee may do so by submitting a nomination letter to the Superintendent, Sturgis Public Schools, Sturgis Central Commons, 107 W. West Street, Sturgis, MI 49091. It should be noted that in addition to recognizing outstanding teaching, community service is a very important component that is considered in the application process. A nomination form is available from the Superintendent’s Office at 107 W. West Street or at www.sturgisps.org. The form can be picked up in person or one can be mailed to anyone by calling the office at 659-1502. The deadline for nominations is December 1, 2014.
