Patti Criswell's Mini-Session:
Stand Up For Yourself & Your Friends
Many students are affected by peer aggression, either as a bystander or a victim.  In this talk, Patti will discuss with parents  the dynamics surrounding bullying and specific ways we can help our children deal with difficult classmates and foster resilience during difficult times. Based on her American Girl series book, there will be an optional book signing afterwards. 75 signed copies will be given away and participants are also welcome to bring their own Patti Criswell books to be signed.

New this year:

Parents are welcome to have 7-14 year old children join them for the Parenting Fair. If you choose to have children join you, special sessions #1 (Stand Up for Yourself & Your Friends)  & #11 (The Leader in Me) have been prepared for you.  Also, your child can be dropped off in the cafeteria for art/activities starting at 8:30 a.m. while you stroll the exhibit hall and attend the morning keynote session by yourself.
Art/Activities will include
  • Duct Tape Art with Sturgis District Library
  • Home Depot workshop
  • Abbreviated "Emergencies 101 for Kids" session with Central Dispatch &Sturgis Police Department
Students must be picked up when the morning keynote session ends. Parents must accompany their child when not at through the exhibit hall, mini-sessions, lunch, etc.
Having your child "join" you is different from our onsite childcare. All day childcare will be available for up to 100 children ages 0-10 years old who are pre-registered. Children checked into the onsite childcare are to remain there all day and not be taken out by parents for mini-sessions, lunch, etc. Childcare has its own planned activities, lunch, and field trips. Scroll further down page for information about this childcare option.
Parenting Fair Registration -    Pre-Registration is now closed. Adults and children ages 7-14 joining their parents are welcome to show up Saturday. Sorry, but childcare is full and we cannot take more children in childcare.

We have 20 mini-sessions to choose from that deal with all aspects of parenting. Look over the list and choose two (one from each time slot). Go to the Parenting Fair Registration form to register on-line. Click this link for the descriptions of the mini-sessions: Mini-Session Descriptions

In addition to one keynote presentation and 20 mini-sessions to choose from, there will also be many exhibits to browse through in the gym. These exhibits are agencies, businesses, and organizations that deal with parenting concerns and/or children. Please click this link to see a list of exhibitors: Exhibits

Childcare is now FULL- If you have not registered your child for childcare, you will need to make other arrangements.

Onsite childcare will be available for parents who have no other options for their children. Childcare can accommodate up to 100 children ages 0-10. These children, and their parents attending, must be pre-registered in advance. Childcare fills quickly. No Walk-ins for childcare the day of the fair will be permitted.
