Reading Around the World

We are "Reading Around the World” for March is Reading Month. Our school has been transformed into the different continents of the world. The wings are designated different continents with the classroom doors decorated for a book from one of the countries in that continent. We are encouraging the students to read more than ever this month. We will tabulate the Accelerated Reader points throughout the month of March. If the students can read 7,500 points, we will duct tape three teachers to the gymnasium wall. Here are some important dates you might want to put on your calendar.

March 1st- Read Across America - Each grade level will read together for a set time.
March 7th- BBBBBB - Brownies, Bingo, Basketball, Balloons, Book Fair and Bake Walk
March 8th- Read a Shirt Day - Make sure the words are school appropriate.
March 22nd- Read a Sticker or Button Day
March 26th- Visiting Author - Kevin Kammeraad will be at our school. Look for an opportunity to order his books early in March.

A special thank you:

*To the Sturgis Council of the Arts for helping fund our visiting author.

*To our own Eastwood Advisory Council for supporting March is Reading Month with funds to buy books as rewards for reading.

*Most importantly, to all of our parents for encouraging your children to read.
