What is the Pyramid Response to Interventions (PRTI)?
PRTI integrates classroom assessment, universal screening devices, and interventions within a multi-level prevention system aimed at maximizing the academic achievement of all students at Sturgis Middle School. Students who are identified as needing additional time and support
What supports may be available to assist my child at each level?
To support students, each year we identify every available resource in the building and make every effort to
LEVEL 1: Classroom Interventions
- Rigorous cirriculum
- Researched-based best instructional practices
- Differentiated instruction
- Extended time and support (XTS)
- Varied instructional methods
- Classroom policies and expectations
- Department collaboration
LEVEL 2: Strategic Interventions
- Small group instruction
- Individualized strategic intervention plan
- Increased communication between home and school
- Strategic reading interventions
- Behavioral, productivity, and work quality contracts
- Possible educational assistant support
- Strategic Extended Time and Support (XTS)
Level 3: Intensive Interventions
- Small group or one-on-one instruction
- Individualized intensive intervention plan
- Intensive reading intervention
Just as a pyramid is larger at the base, our pyramid of interventions is wider at the bottom to represent the fact that the vast majority of our students find success at this level. The pyramid grows narrower as it reaches the top to represent that progressively fewer students need intensive, or specialized interventions.
