A special time of year; a time where what we have is not taken for granted, but remembered. We asked fellow students what they thought about Thanksgiving, and asked them if they thought we don't appreciate the day as much as we should, or if it's completely overrated. Here are a few we thought were exceptional.
Thanksgiving is fine the way it is.
Thanksgiving, is perfectly fine the way it is. Thanksgiving is a time for friends and family to meet, and enjoy their time together. Families don’t always have the chance to come together, and Thanksgiving is the perfect time for that. To come together and make some moments full of joy and happiness, perfect. Also, Thanksgiving gives us students time off school, to remember our past and be grateful for what we have. That's why I think Thanksgiving is fine the way it is. ~Chuy Hernandez
Thanksgiving should be appreciated more.
Thanksgiving is the time of the year we celebrate what we're thankful for. It's not just some day we celebrate Pilgrims and Indians, it's far more than that. Thanksgiving is underrated; many people just take it as a small piece of history, it's not just the celebration we get, or another day off of work. Thanksgiving should be the day where we focus on what we have, instead of the things we don't have. It’s important for everyone to focus on what they have, and spend time with their family. If we didn’t have Thanksgiving; we wouldn’t have that one special day where we focus on what we have, what’s important. It reminds all of us not only of the important historical event, but it also reminds us of what matters. ~Aleese Rohr
I think that people should appreciate Thanksgiving more. It’s not all about the food, it's about giving thanks for the life you have. People don’t get it. They need to give thanks for their family, and everything that they love. Someday, the things you love might be gone, so why not give thanks for them now. ~Emma Boland
