I have been a teacher for 35 years.  I earned my bachelors degree at Eastern Michigan University and my masters degree at Western Michigan University.  Before teaching, I was a community education director and a coach.  I was a teacher at Thomas Sumter Academy in South Carolina before moving back to Michigan.  I was a 6^th grade teacher at Sturgis Middle School for many years before becoming a 4^th grade teacher at Eastwood School. 

My wife, Donna, and I raised three children; daughters, Jeanette and Monica, and son Pat.  All of my kids grew up in Sturgis, and went to Sturgis Public Schools.  I also have two grandsons.  Mason Patrick Hoelscher and Brady James Hoelscher.

A new school year is always an exciting time.  The staff and students at Eastwood are very helpful and willing to make you feel comfortable.  In no time at all you will be settled in and making new friends.  I am looking forward to the first day of school, and ready to get off to a great start.

-Gym shoes

-Inch / centimeter ruler

-Pencils and pens

-School lined paper (no spiral notebooks please)

-Box of crayons or colored markers
